Campaign Intelligence dashboard

Read the Campaign Intelligence dashboard: health, spotlight balance, story arcs, plot threads, factions, insights, and next-session prep.

Campaign Intelligence is an AI feature, so it needs an active AI subscription (Companion or Power). Some widgets show extra detail on Power.

Opening the dashboard

Open Campaign Intelligence from the campaign navigation. The dashboard is a grid of widgets, each focused on one part of your campaign’s health.

If the campaign is brand new and there’s nothing to analyze yet, you’ll see a single Analyze Campaign button instead of a wall of empty cards. Click it to run your first analysis.

A Refresh button in the header re-runs the analysis whenever you want the latest read. Most insights are AI-generated on demand, so refreshing makes new AI calls (which count toward your monthly allowance).

The widgets

Campaign health

Your campaign’s overall status - Healthy, Warning, or Critical - broken down across five dimensions, each scored 0-100:

DimensionWhat it tracks
NarrativeWhether the story is coherent and moving
PacingSession-to-session rhythm and momentum
Player EngagementSpotlight balance across the party
World CoherenceConsistency of your world and factions
Creation LifecycleWhether creations are being used or going stale

You also see a count of issues by severity (critical / warning / info). On Power, the widget expands into a full Issue Details list - each issue named, tagged with its dimension, and linked to the creations involved.

Player engagement

Tracks spotlight balance - who’s getting time in the limelight and who’s owed some. Each party member shows a spotlight debt or credit (in minutes) with a balance bar, plus context like “Alice is behind on spotlight and prefers roleplay-focused scenes.”

On Power, each character also gets a personalized suggestion for how to bring them forward next session.

Story arcs

Lists the story arcs AI has detected across your campaign, each with its current narrative phase (Setup, Rising Action, Climax, Resolution, and so on). If no arcs have been detected yet, a Detect arcs button kicks off detection. See Story arcs for how arcs and their phases work.

Plot threads

Shows the story threads you’re tracking - your Campaign Markers - with their status (Active, Dormant, Resolved, Abandoned) and urgency (Background, Normal, Urgent, Critical). Unlike Story Arcs, these are threads you author, not ones AI detects, so this widget is a quick read on where each one stands.

Faction status

A health read on your factions: each shows an activity status (Healthy, Warning, or Stale), how many goals it has, how many relationships have shifted, and how many sessions since it last did anything. A faction drifting toward Stale is your cue to give it a beat.

Proactive insights

The heart of the dashboard: a prioritized list of AI recommendations, sorted by importance. Each insight has a severity (info / warning / critical), the dimension it relates to, a plain-language description of the problem, and a concrete recommendation for what to do about it.

Every insight has a Discuss this insight button that opens the Session Companion chat pre-loaded with the insight’s context - so you can brainstorm the fix immediately instead of starting from a blank prompt.

On Companion, you see the top 5 insights; Power shows the full list (with related-creation links).

Next session

Your prep readiness at a glance: the next session number, a status badge (Ready, Needs Attention, or Not Started), and counts of unaddressed carryovers and spotlight targets. A Start Session Prep button opens the next session setup flow. If no suitable upcoming session exists, Campaign Familiar opens the Create Session form first; after you save the session, you continue into the prep flow. On Power, it also shows a detailed preparation checklist sorted by priority.

How the insights are made

Campaign Health, Proactive Insights, and Story Arc detection are AI-generated on demand - they run real analysis when you open the dashboard or hit Refresh, and each run uses your monthly AI allowance. Plot Threads and Faction Status are read directly from what you’ve authored, so they cost nothing and are always current.

Your campaign data goes straight to the engine provider (Anthropic) for analysis - there’s no Campaign Familiar server in the middle and no API key for you to manage.

A good rhythm

  • Between sessions: open the dashboard, skim Campaign Health and Proactive Insights, act on anything critical.
  • During prep: check Next Session and Player Engagement to decide who and what to feature.
  • When the story feels stuck: run Detect arcs and read the Story Arcs widget to see the shape of your campaign.
