- Ask for a draft to Anthropic the slice of context that draft needs. No training, 30-day default deletion. No account or campaign identifier attached.
- Index for recall to Voyage AI six layers: Core, RelationshipWeb, ThematicFingerprint, TemporalContext, and SessionContext and DmAnnotations, which are your session records and your private notes rather than invented fiction. No training or retention after 13 August 2026. Runs when you press Regenerate in Settings, when you use Ask Campaign, or as part of generating. Not on save, not on a timer.
- Import a PDF to Anthropic the full text of the book. The file stays local; the text does not.
These happen on their own, and carry no campaign data
- Update check, seconds after launch to an Amazon S3 bucket the request and nothing else.
- Fonts, when the window opens to Google Fonts four typefaces. Google sees your IP, as any web request would.

So the engine is AI?
Yes: the engine runs on Claude, Anthropic's model, against your campaign's memory. When you use a feature that calls the engine, the campaign content that feature needs is sent to the AI services that run it, and used only for that. Your database never leaves your machine, and the app works without the engine at all. If any AI in your prep is a dealbreaker, this isn't your tool, and genuinely no hard feelings.
Who's behind this?
One developer, Sandy. I'm not a DM; I'm a systems analyst who listened to my own DM (a man who loves this game) describe losing his evenings to the grind around it, and couldn't leave the problem alone. His campaign has been the test bed ever since, and he holds founder seat #1.
How is AI use measured?
During your first season, it isn't: 3 months of Power are simply included while you settle in. After that, founder-for-life pricing is $5/mo Companion · $10/mo Power, locked. At public launch, usage moves to credits priced to the real cost of each call (a quick NPC costs a little, a full session plan more, and write-back proposals are on the menu too), with a published menu, never an opaque meter. Founders keep their locked prices on that same menu, and first-season usage is what calibrates it.
Which systems?
Built for a 5e table, 5e-first. The PDF import brings your own books' content in; other systems' support grows from founder demand.
Mac/Linux?
Builds exist; Windows is the supported platform for the founder cohort.
What actually leaves my machine?
Your campaign database stays on your computer. Three things go out, and you set off all three: the context a draft needs, which goes to Anthropic; six layers of your campaign for the recall index, which go to Voyage AI; and the text of any PDF you import, which goes to Anthropic. Two of those six index layers are your session records and your private DM notes, not just invented fiction, so that is worth knowing before you paste a raw transcript. Nothing about your campaign is sent on a timer or in the background, there is no licence check phoning home, and requests carry no account or campaign identifier. Two things do happen on their own, and neither carries campaign data: an update check a few seconds after launch, and the four typefaces the window loads from Google Fonts. Neither vendor trains on it, with one dated caveat on the Voyage side. Full detail on /privacy.
What if I stop subscribing?
The app and your database are yours forever. Organizing, browsing, and editing never require a subscription. The subscription only powers generation.

Free offline campaign tools exist. Why $29?
Different job. A dashboard or a wiki organizes what you already wrote down, and you still do the remembering and the writing. Campaign Familiar remembers your story and drafts from it: last week's cliffhanger, the grudge your rogue is nursing, the tavern's actual name. If organizing is all you need, use the free tool with my blessing. The $29 buys the memory and the drafting.
Is this an AI DM?
No. It drafts prep, you stay the storyteller. It never runs your game, never speaks for your NPCs at the table, and never writes anything into your campaign without you approving it first.
