Campaign Notes
Capture freeform notes, search them, tag them, and optionally analyze them into proposed campaign records.
Open it from Campaign Notes in the campaign nav.
The notes workspace
Campaign Notes uses a two-pane layout:
- Left: a list of your notes, with a search box and type tabs.
- Right: the editor for whichever note you’ve selected.
To start a new note, click the add button, give it a title, and start writing. Notes save to your campaign and stay on your computer like the rest of your data.
Note types
Each note has a type, and you can filter the list by it:
- General - Everyday notes and reminders.
- Brainstorm - Looser, idea-generating notes.
Use the tabs above the list to switch between All, Notes, and Ideas (Notes shows your General notes; Ideas shows your Brainstorm notes).
Searching notes
The search box at the top of the list filters by title, content, and tags, so you can find the right note quickly even in a long list. (This search is scoped to your notes - to search across your creations instead, use Campaign Search.)
Turning notes into campaign content
A note can be more than a static record. With an AI subscription, you can have Campaign Familiar analyze a note and pull structured content out of it. The analysis reads the note and surfaces:
- Mentions of NPCs, locations, factions, and other creations
- Narrative threads running through the text
- World-building details worth keeping
- Proposed new creations drawn from what you wrote
- Suggested updates to creations you already have, shown as field-level changes you can review before accepting
This makes Campaign Notes a natural home for post-session jottings: write down what happened, then let the analysis help fold the important bits back into your campaign. You stay in control - nothing is changed until you accept a proposal.
Quick-tag selected text
Select a name in a note and choose NPC, Location, Item, Encounter, Faction, or Campaign Marker. Campaign Familiar creates a name-only stub for it and drops a confirmation chip linking to the new creation, leaving the note text unchanged. It’s the fastest way to turn a name you just typed into a real creation you can flesh out later.
Import notes
Click Import notes and paste existing campaign text into the dialog, then Analyze & review. Campaign Familiar stages the proposed NPCs, locations, factions, and related content in Import Review. Nothing is added to your campaign until you approve the proposals.
Tips
- Keep a running session note. Capture moments as they happen, then analyze it afterward to update your world.
- Use tags so search can round up related notes later.
- Pick the type deliberately - separating Brainstorm notes from General ones keeps your loose ideas from cluttering your working notes.
